Course content

Our PGCE Primary Flexible course is ideal if you are not able to commit to a full-time or fixed part-time route into teaching, or if you wish to have some recognition taken of existing experience as a teacher or lecturer.

One of the key benefits of the course is that you can tailor your studies around your existing commitments. With much of your study undertake independently through online learning, you choose when to engage with your studies. All students are supported with academic work by a range of experienced tutors.

Our PGCE Primary Flexible course is designed to fit around your requirements. It can take between 18 months and three years, depending on individual circumstances and experience, and has been designed to enable you to meet the standards for Qualified Teacher Status. It also provides the opportunity to gain 60 Master's level credits.

Run in partnership with schools across the region and beyond, there is a wide geographical range of settings that can support your teaching placements. All placements will need to be undertaken in schools in England, or MoD schools overseas. For example, some of our students have completed placements in MoD schools in Cyprus and Belgium, but there is flexibility to undertake placements outside of Kent with the agreement of your course director and Faculty approval.

You can gain a PGCE whilst continuing in employment/caring for a family/fulfilling other life commitments. It is flexible and responsive to your needs. It gives you the chance to tailor your studying to your lifestyle and to take a more individualised route to QTS, whilst providing opportunities to meet with like-minded people from all over the United Kingdom.

All modules offer the opportunity to gain Master's credits and these can then be put towards a Master's degree in the future.
