Entry requirements

It is expected that applicants will possess at least a good 2nd class honours degree. A Masters level qualification with a strong research element would be advantageous. However, all applications are considered on an individual basis and holders of other qualifications are welcome to apply.

Course content

Students are required to demonstrate that they can conduct an original investigation, test ideas - those of their own and others - and understand the relationship between the topic investigated and the wider field of knowledge.

For an MPhil the students are required to demonstrate that they can conduct an original investigation, test ideas - those of their own and others - and understand the relationship between the topic investigated and the wider field of knowledge. For a PhD, in addition to the above, the student's thesis should also make an original contribution to knowledge or understanding in their field of study.
