The University requires all applicants for PGCE programmes to demonstrate that they meet the national entry requirements, as set out by the Department for Education. One of these requirements is that the applicant has achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C in the GCSE examinations in English, mathematics and science. Applicants must possess a 2:1 (Hons) degree in History or History and a second closely related subject by the time the programme starts. Applicants are also required to have undertaken a minimum of ten days recent state primary and secondary school experience (prior to applying) and have passed the skills tests in literacy and numeracy.
