Course content

An ancient medicinal practice that still holds weight today, auricular therapy applies stimulation techniques, such as acupressure and acupuncture, to the microsystem of the ear to heal the ailments of corresponding areas of the anatomy.

The Introduction to Auricular Therapy Diploma Course will guide you through the mechanics, theories and evidence behind auricular therapy.

From its roots in ancient civilisations to its prevalence in the modern era, we’ll begin the course with a look into the history of auricular therapy before outlining the different parts of the ear and how they relate to our body as a whole, and the biology behind auricular therapy.

Believed to heal ailments and problems, both chronic and acute, we’ll look at scientific reports and published articles that explain what auricular therapy can and can’t do, as well as the risks of each method used in the therapy and the steps taken to minimise these.

You’ll follow step-by-step guides on each primary auricular method so that you can decide which methods you would like to study further in order to practice. We’ll take a look at three real-world cases of people who benefited from auricular stimulation to better understand the capabilities of auricular therapy. You’ll also be guided through a typical auricular therapy session.

By studying this course, you will:

  • Discover the history of auricular therapy
  • Understand the theories behind the therapy
  • Learn about the techniques and mapping used in auricular therapy
  • Become familiar with case studies, theorised benefits and possible risks of auricular therapy
