Entry requirements
Prerequisite knowledge:
Lapsed NMC registration for UK Nurses
DBS check and have satisfactory occupational health clearance.
An approved placement is a requirement to undertake this course, this can be within either an acute, community or general practice setting.
English requirements:
Students will be required to undertake a literacy and numeracy test.

Course content
This course is designed to meet the needs of nurses whose registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) has lapsed and who wish to return to nursing practice.
As part of this course you will need to complete a placement within either an acute, community or general practice setting.
In this course you will examine the current evidence base for nursing practice and refresh your clinical skills. You will develop your skills as a reflective practitioner and enhance your ability to effectively use current evidence to inform your practice.
The course content reflects contemporary nursing issues including: NMC standards for practice; NHS reforms; patient safety including safeguarding vulnerable adults and children; the Mental Capacity Act 2005; advances in technology including medical devices and health informatics; compassion in practice, dignity in care, and the 6Cs; equality and diversity; medicines management, and general practice nursing skills.
