A typical graduate of this course will be a lecturer, postgraduate student or associated professional with responsibility for teaching students in higher education.
Months of entry
The overall aim of the programme is to combine theory, practice, and the use of reflection to enable you to develop your teaching skills and educational knowledge. It is a part-time programme, comprising a wide range of modules based on areas including (but not limited to); learning, teaching and assessment; student support and personal tutoring; curriculum development, the use of technologies in higher education; leading change in higher education; mentoring; and the undertaking of educational research.
A key characteristic of the programme involves learning by working with peers, as well as well as through engagement with a number of educational technologies.
It is primarily aimed at staff (internal or external to the University) with a lecturing, teaching, or facilitating role with students.
Fees and funding
- Part-time EU: £2,000 per year
- Part-time Non EU: £4,000 per year
All fees are waived for any City staff (including visiting lecturers) and current City PhD students. If the Years 2 & 3 are applied for together, the fee is reduced to £2,300 in total for the two years.
