Entry requirements

Applications are welcomed from a wide range of disciplines with a first or second class honours degree, applicants must show an awareness of health or health-related care issues. Applicants must demonstrate competency in spoken and written English and numeracy through GCSE Maths and English at A*-C. We also take into account previous work experience. You will be required to have occupational health and enhanced Criminal records checks. References may be requested. Successful completion of Assessment of Prior Learning (APL) is required. Due to the high demand for places on NHS funded courses, as well as meeting the stated academic entry requirements, applicants will be required to attend a selection day held at City University London. You will be asked to complete the NHS Constitution Assessment, which is used to demonstrate that your values

Course content

This Postgraduate Diploma prepares you for a rewarding career in mental health nursing. As a mental health nurse you can make a real difference to the lives of people of all ages who experience mental health problems.
Mental health nursing focuses on the provision of holistic care that enables people with mental health problems to be physically safe and emotionally secure. The course concentrates on helping people to make positive changes to their lives and supporting them on their journey of recovery.
Who is the course for?
Our graduate-entry courses allow graduates with a first degree from disciplines other than healthcare to gain a pre-registration health qualification in approximately two years as opposed to the usual three - providing a fast-track route into health.

Fees and funding

Full-time EU: £Tuition fees are paid by the NHS.
Postgraduate Diploma Nursing Conversion to MSc
The conversion fee for 2015-16 is £2,000 for Home/EU students and £4,000 for overseas students. Please note that fees are subject to change on an annual basis.
Scholarships: The School of Health Sciences believes that exceptional academic and clinical performance should be recognised and rewarded. We have several scholarships available for students starting on our courses this September and January:
