The Finance MSc aims to provide students with specialist knowledge and skills in finance from a strategic and managerial perspective. The emphasis of the programme will be on the practical application of financial theories, concepts and principles.
Students will learn how to interpret, evaluate and communicate financial information in real business situations.

What will I learn?
This course is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect new developments and the requirements of the profession, needs of industry and government legislation. The Finance MSc is available as both a September and January start.
The first semester of the degree (worth 60 credits) will involve studying the following subjects:
- Financial Statements Analysis and Valuation;
- Institutional Investments;
- Corporate Finance;
- Quantitative Methods.
The second semester (worth 75 credits) involves studying the following:
- Behavioural Finance;
- International Financial Markets;
- Emerging Markets Finance;
- Corporate Financial Strategy;
- Research Methods.
- Dissertation or Company Internship.

The MSc Finance programme is designed for students aspiring to careers in the financial services, corporate finance, treasury or banking sectors.
Example careers include financial planners and controllers, treasurers, stock brokers, commodities traders, cash and fund managers, insurance adjusters and other positions in banking and finance.
Successful applicants for the company internship will significantly enhance their employability skills in their chosen career path.
As part of the Finance MSc course, students have the option of enrolling on the internship programme.
This module normally lasts between 8–12 weeks and provides students with an opportunity to undertake a workplace project on behalf of an organisation.

- Students must successfully meet the following assessment criteria:
- Academic: successfully complete all Semester 1 modules including research methods at the first attempt;
- CV shortlisting: submit a CV, which will be used for competitive short listing by the internship panel;
- Presentation: prepare and successfully deliver a formal presentation;
- Interview: interview with the university internship panel.
After completing the Internship, you are required to write an extensive report based on the managerial and educational experience derived from the internship itself and present your findings to both the employers and academic staff.
