Honours degree or an equivalent qualification in a computing discipline, or an unclassified degree in computing plus relevant professional experience.
Months of entry
The MSc in Advanced Computing allows a computing graduate or a graduate of a closely related discipline to further advance their professional computing skills at a postgraduate level by study of a portfolio of bespoke specialist computing topics.
The MSc in Advanced Computing programme curriculum consists of core topics and a substantial MSc project. Successful completion of both parts leads to an award of MSc in Advanced Computing. Completion of the taught modules without a project leads to an award of a Postgraduate Diploma.
The mandatory study topics are as follows:
- Software Development;
- Software Engineering Design.
The remainder of the programme is bespoke, made up of topics from areas such as:
- Database Systems;
- Software Process Management;
- Open Systems Application Development;
- Real-Time Embedded Systems.
The MSc Project
The Advanced Computing postgraduate programme includes the completion of an individual project. Guided by an expert tutor, the MSc project serves to provide a method of applying previous learning whilst further developing the skills necessary to carry out research and facilitate the acquisition of valuable professional experience integral to that of a computer professional.
