Applicants must hold a a BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy. Health Professionals Council (HPC) registration is required for MSc Neurological Occupational Therapy. HPC registration allows students to undertake clinical practice modules. OVERVIEW

Rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions can present unique challenges even for experienced occupational therapists. This specialist qualification will give you the best possible understanding of their needs.

The Neuroloigcal Occupational Therapy MSc provides an opportunity for occupational therapists wishing to specialise in the field of neurological rehabilitation. It also aims to help senior practitioners into more specialist roles within clinical practice, research or educational environments.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Neurological rehabilitation encompasses a wide range of disciplines, however, the focus of this course is to cover specific therapeutic issues in depth. The course supports interdisciplinary practice. All but the core Occupational Therapy module are taught jointly with students enrolled on the MSc Neurological Physiotherapy course. Depending on the mode of study, you will either undertake a professional practice module (full-time students), integrating theoretical and practical components or work-based learning module (part-time students), critically examining and advancing an area in their own professional practice.

  • The course will enable you to develop knowledge of the theoretical concepts of neural control and the principles of neurological rehabilitation,
  • the course promotes theoretical concepts and professional practice which will enable you to critically appraise current practice,
  • the course content is reviewed regularly to remain responsive to current practice developments,
  • attendance for this course is flexible. You can study for one year full-time and from two to five years part-time, attending the University from as little as one afternoon and up to two days per week.
