Entry requirements

We welcome applications from talented candidates from all backgrounds. Candidates are normally high potential, early-career managers with three to ten years’ post-qualification experience in marketing roles.

Candidates normally possess a first or second class, UK honours degree (or international equivalent). Alternatively, we will consider a professional qualification (such as CIM, IDM, ISM) together with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification work experience.

Other relevant qualifications, together with significant experience, may also be considered.

Professional experience and personal qualities are equally important to us and each application is considered on its individual merit.

Before an application is submitted for the Senior Leader Apprenticeship programme, you need to have approval from the employer. Students have to be employed and your employer has to agree to provide you with the support and supervision to carry out your job role and your apprenticeship. It is a requirement of the Apprenticeship Funding Rules that you are working at least 50% of your contracted hours in England.

A three-way agreement needs to be put in place between Cranfield University, your employer, and you.

Course content

This part-time programme meets the requirements of the revised Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard. Eligible organisations are able to use £14,000 of their Apprenticeship Levy to cover Part I of the programme tuition fee. Part II can be funded by your employer or you. Find out more about our Postgraduate Apprenticeships.

Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship+ Marketing and Leadership MSc programme has been designed in two parts. Part I enables students to gain an understanding of both general management functions, including strategy, finance, corporate sustainability and change management, and specialist and advanced subjects related to strategic marketing, including strategic marketing planning, customer management, digital marketing, communications, and consumer behaviour.

On successful completion of the taught modules, you are qualified to progress onto Part II, the Marketing and Leadership MSc, which enables you to cement your learning and complete a significant work-based project within your organisation.

This programme develops your marketing and leadership skills, enabling you to lead change and meet the constantly evolving needs and requirements of customers. You will gain leading-edge insights into marketing and leadership that can then be applied directly within your organisation.

Our Senior Leader Apprenticeship+ Marketing and Leadership MSc is informed by Cranfield’s Strategic Marketing MSc – a top-ranked marketing MSc, 5th in the UK and 16th in the world by QS World University Rankings: Masters in Marketing 2021 – and Management MSc – ranked 3rd in the UK and 30th in the world in The Economist Which MBA?
