Entry requirements

Students should hold a good honours degree or overseas equivalent, in any subject. Applications from those with significant professional experience in Politics and International Relations will be considered individually. English Language requirements: If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 (including a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent is normally required. English language tuition is available at DMU both before and during the course, if required.

The MA Politics is designed for students to obtain an advanced level understanding of key political issues and how they engage with local and national governance, comparative politics and international relations.

The programme offers diversity in the range of study, from urban austerity to conflict resolution. The programme will provide students with an advanced level of understanding of the contemporary political issues such as urban austerity and local political leadership

The programme is particularly relevant for those who wish to engage in public policy and national and local government where knowledge of the linkages between local, national and international issues and institutions is essential. The programme is also of relevance for those who wish to progress towards a PhD degree.
