Entry requirements

A first degree in an appropriate subject such as chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental sciences, biotechnology, biology etc. Engineering graduates with a strong science background can also be considered. If you are uncertain as to whether you meet these criteria you should consult one of the course co-ordinators. As the course is taught in English, if English is not your native language you should provide proof of your English ability by, for example, the IELTS or TOEFL tests.

Course content

The course comprises ten taught modules and a final project that is equivalent to a double module. Some of the modules are taught entirely in one of the three centres whilst others are spread across all three. The final project applies the skills and knowledge that you have gained during the course to a practical or literature-based project, which is normally undertaken in Leicester. Where appropriate the project may be carried out elsewhere; either in industry or at one of the other participating institutions.

Information for international students

In addition to having an appropriate first degree, International students should have an English language qualification such as IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 237. The tuition fee for non-EU students is 7200 Euros.

Fees and funding

SOCRATES grants are available for EU students.
Tuition fee for self funding home and EU students is 4000 Euros.
