Course content

Electronic engineering research at De Montfort University reflects the breadth of the subject itself. There are four broad themes: electronics (which includes electromagnetics, microwave engineering, embedded systems, power electronics and signal processing), semiconductor devices and materials (including research in carbon nanotubes and organic electronics as well as more traditional semiconductor systems), wireless communication systems (including research in network management) and fused media.

Department specialisms

Electronic engineering gained an excellent result in RAE2008 focussing on microelectronic devices, materials and measurements, electromagnetics compatibility, communications and signal processing. This success has led to expansion of the research base, building on these themes. Many department research staff are internationally recognized experts. Many of the research facilities are unique.

Information for international students

Reduced fees for international students studying at home and visiting the university for a short period each year.

Fees and funding

Research studentships are usually advertised in the national press and relevant journals. Enquiries from self-funding students are welcome. A brief guide to sources of funding for postgraduate students is available from the Student Entry and Support Division (SESD) of the Academic Registry.
