Entry requirements

To join this programme, you should have a first class or upper second class honours degree in a cognate subject area or discipline. In exceptional circumstances, students with a lower second class honours degree classification may be admitted. Each applicant will be required to submit a 500-word research proposal outlining the intended focus of their MRes studies and demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment towards the proposed subject. A formal registration interview/viva will be held for each candidate.

Course content

This Masters by Research (MRes) programme in the clinical and health and social care disciplines focuses on the production of a substantial piece of work in a chosen specialist area of interest which is negotiated upon entry to the course.

The course will equip you with extensive knowledge and understanding of the research process, research methods and methodologies. You will have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate a deep and advanced knowledge of your specialist topic of study while engaging in independent research practice to a high standard.

This will ultimately translate into you designing, delivering and evaluating a research project from inception to successful completion, with the support and guidance of experts in clinical practice.

Information for international students

Overseas applicants will be expected to demonstrate IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
