You will need an Honours degree or equivalent with at least a 50% computing component. If you have alternative qualifications or experience we welcome your application and you will be considered on an individual basis. Course content

This is a full-time course studied over one year. The course is a personalised programme of choice based on a student's background and interest. It requires an intensive period of study, involving lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions and independent study. While classes for each module may account for only three or four hours a week, you'll be expected to commit at least 13 hours per week per module. As a full-time student you'll take three modules per trimester, for the first two trimesters. This course is also available part-time, with one or two modules studied per trimester.

Trimesters 1 and 2

You will choose six modules from a wide range of options, including:

Advanced Applications Programming, Computer Systems, Database Systems, Web Design and Development, Engineering, Interaction Design, Mobile Communication, Network Systems and Services, Software Development, Strategic Thinking for Information Services, Usability Methods, Action Oriented Research (Contact), Audio and Video Narrative, e-Learning Application Development, Emergent Computing for Optimisation, Enterprise Computing, e-Security, Information Systems Group Project, Management of Software Projects, Managing Knowledge, Parallel Applications Programming, Programming for the Web, Security Compliance, Usability Engineering, User Experience, Web-Enabled Business, Advanced Software Development, Network Accessibility, Optimising Networks and Services, Routing Technology, Switching Technology.

Note: options depend on availability and suitability.

Trimester 2 will also involve completion of a Group Project. Successful completion of Year 1 modules will qualify you for a Postgraduate Certificate. Successful completion of Year 2 modules will qualify you for a Postgraduate Diploma.

Trimester 3

MSc Dissertation - completion will qualify you for a Masters Degree.

Fees and funding

The programme has a small number of fully funded places (fees at home/EU level) from Scottish government.
