Masters of Midwifery

Edinburgh Napier University · School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Care

Entry requirements

The Masters of Midwifery is a three year pre-registration programme that leads to a midwifery qualification and entry onto a professional register. Therefore our admissions policy reflects the requirements of the NMC (2009) Standards for pre–registration midwifery education.

To apply for this programme you must possess a first degree (preferably in life sciences, social sciences, sports sciences, nursing, health studies, health care, and education). You must provide evidence of completion of general education of 12 years as part of the interview process. You may also be considered with other academic, vocational or professional qualifications deemed to be equivalent.

Although not essential, we do advise students to gain paid or voluntary work within the health and/or social care sector before commencement onto the programme.
