This programme offers a wide choice of modules which cover the skills which modern construction professionals need in order to meet the challenges of the industry. It also provides recent graduates and experienced professionals with an outstanding opportunity to upgrade their skills in order to enhance their career opportunities. The programme allows students the scope to develop a bespoke skillset by their selection from the range of elective modules we provide.
The MSc programme is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), allowing successful MSc graduates to progress directly to the assessment of professional competence. A semester system operates at GCU, each of which comprises fifteen weeks. During the semester, there are twelve teaching weeks and three weeks during which examinations are held. The taught modules cover the Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) stage of the degree. All modules are also delivered by means of web-based learning. This choice is open for experienced professionals, but recent graduates will receive guidance in the selection of appropriate modules. Students who successfully complete the PgD stage (comprising eight modules) have the opportunity to progress to the preparation of a dissertation for the award of MSc in Construction Management. Attendance can be full-time (1 year), part-time (2 years) or by distance learning (2-5 years).
