Entry requirements

First degree or equivalent, Nursing and Midwifery Council first level registered; Practice Teacher availability. Applicants are required to apply for PVG before commencing the programme. Applicants must also provide proof of professional indemnity (e.g. RCN membership). Selected applicants may be invited for interview.

Course content

This post-qualifying programme offers flexible full-time or part-time study options for first level registered nurses to advance their career aspirations by seeking entry to Part 3 of NMC Register as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) and also register as a Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber (V100). The SCPHN (Health Visiting) programme aims to build on students’ existing professional knowledge and enable them to extend their capabilities to develop public health knowledge and skills using a range of dynamic and stimulating intra-professional and inter-professional learning opportunities.

This course provides education and training in the promotion of health and well-being at individual, group and community level to meet the challenging and diverse needs of individuals, families and communities of the future.
