Course content

The contemporary culture of fashion calls for creative practitioners – designers, writers, thinkers and curators – who actively seek to challenge traditional boundaries.

Goldsmiths' MA in Fashion provides a highly creative interdisciplinary environment in which research, critical debate and ethical awareness combine with aesthetics to cultivate new ways of thinking, doing and being fashion.

This pioneering new programme will challenge you to explore fashion in context through the intersection of theory and practice, positioning you to shape a future in fashion that is innovative, inclusive and interdisciplinary. It will also offer unique opportunities to transform concepts into tangible products, services and experiences. Your outcomes during the year are just as likely to be writings, short films, conceptual prototypes or imagery, as garments. Through in depth research, collaboration and experimentation, together with ongoing dialogue and reflection, you will hone your creativity, whilst acquiring critical and entrepreneurial skills.

Whether you have a background in fashion design, textiles, buying, fashion journalism or fashion prediction the MA in Fashion will support you in gaining a clear purpose and focus in your practice. You will develop a thorough understanding of fashion’s emerging forms and roles enabling you to situate your practice within them.
