Preferred applicants are graduates of electronic engineering or computer science (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc) with a First class or 2:1 honours degree. Applications must be supported by two references. Selection for funded entry is by formal interview at ISLI, followed by interviews with potential sponsors.

EngD is a four-year programme, placing emphasis on research within an industrial context. Students (known as Research Engineers) combine a research project, based with a UK sponsoring company, with accredited technical and business training. It is designed to appeal to ambitious and able graduates who aspire to managerial positions in industry.
Information for international students
International students are not eligible for any form of funding. ISLI will consider applications from candidates able to arrange their own funding for four years, but is unable to suggest organisations or companies that could provide such funding.
Fees and funding
Full funding is provided to all successful and eligible students from a range of funding sources.
Eligible students receive a tax-free income of c£19.5k pa for the duration of the programme. A substantial allowance is provided in addition to this income to attend conferences and training programmes worldwide.
