Course content

Option modules deal with applications of Psychological research and theory in the commercial and public sectors, including education, provision for an aging population, relationships, public psychological health, criminal justice, ergonomics, leadership and organisational change in business, and consumer and economic psychology. An option in research methods is available for students without a background in this area. The Applied Psychology Programme was founded in 2003 and has established a reputation for being a small and friendly 'premium' department, with an excellent staff-student ratio. Our emphasis on the application of psychology in real-world settings is almost unique in the UK.

Information for international students

Many modules making up the course address cross-cultural aspects of Psychology at some points. Heriot-Watt University has some major involvement in internationalisation of its courses, and offers extensive support to international students.
