Entry requirements

Students seeking to undertake research work in the Department must normally have a good Honours degree in chemistry. For PhD, First or Upper Second Class MSci or MChem Degree; Equivalent is required for EU applicants. For overseas (Non-EU) applicants First Class BSc and MSc degrees are required.

Course content

Students initially register for the MPhil and transfer to PhD after successfully completing their transfer report and viva at the end of the first year.

The department typically admits 65-70 MPhil/PhD and 43 MRes students each year. Funding for these students comes from a diverse range of sources, including the EPSRC, industry, scholarships and self-funded students.

Information for international students

International students fees - £22,300 a year. Competitive College Award Schemes are available for international students.
