Entry requirements

To qualify for the MSc ENTECH programme, you need:

A completed Bachelor’s degree worth 180 ECTS credits or equivalent in one of the following subjects: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, process engineering, or electrical engineering.

Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in another engineering or related subject may submit an application that will be assessed by the MSc ENTECH Admission Committee on a case-by-case basis.

All candidates will need to provide their transcript of records to show that they have met the requirements described in ONE of the following three lists.

Either

a) AT LEAST the stated number of ECTS credits in each of the following courses, or their equivalent:

  • Higher mathematics I – III: 21 credits
  • Scientific basics: 7 credits
  • Engineering mechanics I – IV: 21 credits
  • Material science I and II (incl. lab): 15 credits
  • Technical thermodynamics I and II: 13 credits
  • Mechanical design I – IV: 18 credits
  • Key qualifications in mechanical engineering: 6 credits
  • Production operations management: 5 credits
  • Electrical engineering: 8 credits
  • Informatics: 8 credits
  • Measurement and control systems: 7 credits
  • Fluid mechanics: 7 credits
  • Machines and processes: 7 credits

OR

b) AT LEAST the stated number of ECTS credits in each of the following courses, or their equivalent:

  • Higher mathematics: 24 credits
  • Program and numerical methods: 8 credits
  • Physics: 9 credits
  • General and inorganic chemistry: 5 credits
  • Organic chemistry: 4 credits
  • Engineering mechanics: 15 credits
  • Material science: 8 credits
  • Mechanical design and apparatus engineering: 9 credits
  • Technical thermodynamics: 14 credits
  • Fluid dynamics: 5 credits
  • Heat and mass transfer: 7 credits
  • Control systems and system dynamics: 4 credits
  • Chemical process engineering: 6 credits
  • Mechanical process engineering: 6 credits
  • Thermal process engineering: 6 credits
  • Bioengineering: 3 credits
  • Labs: 10 credits

OR

c) Successful completion of the following courses, or their equivalent:

  • Mathematics I and II
  • Theory of probability
  • Complex analysis and integral transformations
  • Physics I and II
  • Linear electrical grid
  • Electronic circuits
  • Fields and waves
  • Basic practical work
  • Digital techniques
  • Information engineering
  • Lab information engineering.

You must have completed all the courses in each of the above lists. We cannot accept a combination of individual courses taken from different lists.

If you have not successfully completed all the courses from your chosen list, you MAY still be granted admission. In this situation, you must give a written commitment that you will successfully complete the remaining courses during the first two semesters of the ENTECH Master’s programme, in addition to the current programme curriculum. However, you may only take up to three of these courses during the ENTECH programme. If you need to complete more than three courses from your preferred list, you will not be accepted onto the MSc ENTECH programme.

The Master’s in Energy Technologies (MSc ENTECH) enables you to explore a broad range of energy technologies, engineering disciplines, and business models – and to understand how they all come together to create a more sustainable energy sector.

With a strong focus on innovative problem solving, building effective international teams, and finding inspiration from fellow students, industrial partners, SMEs and start-ups, this programme is a learning journey that helps you find your unique role in the energy industry.

MSC ENTECH offers you a new way to think about your career in energy engineering. It focuses on inter-disciplinary practice, integrating creative, entrepreneurial and leadership skills, with the creation of new ideas, innovative products, services, processes and solutions. The programme gives you exceptional opportunities to engage with real-world challenges and the industry players attempting to solve them. Companies like Siemens, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Vattenfall, Schneider Electric and others are all involved in the programme to some extend.

MSc ENTECH is an international programme for an international industry. You will join students from all over the world at two different universities and one of Europe’s leading business schools. After successfully completing the programme and your thesis, you will receive a double diploma in the form of a Master’s degree from two of the following institutes:

For EU Students

The participation fee is 12000 €/year. If you are nominated for a scholarship as indicated below, the participation fee is waived.

For Non-EU Students

The participation fee is 12000 €/year. If you are nominated for a scholarship as indicated below, the participation fee is waived.

Scholarships

There are two types of scholarships and they are not necessarily a full scholarship, and thus it may be necessary to find additional funding to be able to fully finance study and stay.

  • Fee waiver
  • Fee waiver + a monthly allowance of up to €750 for a maximum of 24 months
