A good first degree, ideally first class honours (or equivalent) and at least a 2:1. Applicants are normally expected to have a distinction at master's degree level, in a field relevant to the proposed research. Applicants for whom English is not their first language should include test evidence of expert usage in writing, speaking and understanding of English. The research proposal, and the fit with staff expertise, is the critical criterion for our assessment of an application.
