Choose Kingston's Leadership and Management in Social Care PgCert
The Leadership and Management in Social Care PgCert is specifically designed for managers in social work and social care organisations. On this course you will work with a range of experts from within the sector and will benefit from the expertise of senior colleagues in relevant disciplines from outside the sector.
Action learning sets are strongly encouraged throughout the course to motivate you to engage in peer learning. The course is aligned with the Chief Social Workers' Knowledge and Skills statements for practice leaders and practice supervisors.
What will you study

The course consists of two modules – Leading and Managing in Social Work Practice and Leading and Managing in Social Work and Social Care Organisations. These modules are aimed at enabling you to gain and demonstrate a fuller understanding of leadership and management behaviours in social work practice.
On the course you will:
- reflect on and critically analyse your own practice in managing people in social work;
- develop skills in managing people in social work contexts;
- draw on a range of relevant research, evidence, frameworks and literature to inform your understanding and self-assessment;
- analyse effectively the political and policy context for social care social work in order to produce informed leadership responses;
- enhance your comprehension of organisational structures, dynamics and cultures, including the different legal types of social work organisations, using data and performance informationand financial planning and management; and
- develop and enhance your leadership and management competencies and capabilities, including managing change, working across organisational boundaries and project planning and project management.
