The MSc in Health Economics and Policy meets the needs of those wishing to develop their research skills while gaining an understanding of theory, policy and practice of health economics and policy.

The course is aimed at individuals based in international settings or in the UK. The programme is offered part-time and combines innovative distance learning and face-to-face (annual autumn Academy held in Lancaster) approaches helping you to gain deeper and critical insights into critical issues in the health care sector.

The MSc in Health Economics and Policy aims to provide an opportunity for those seeking to enhance their academic knowledge of the discipline and be better qualified to successfully apply for positions in the public sector or pharmaceutical companies, if desired. Our postgraduate students extend their knowledge beyond a single discipline, and possess a wide range of skills to aid employability.

The Health Economics at Lancaster (HEAL) team has specific expertise necessary for the proposed programme, complemented by the expertise existing in the Economics department at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). The team have expertise in health economics, health policy and economic evaluation. Current research being undertaken by the members of the teams will influence all aspects of the modules.

Information for international students

We normally require an IELTS (Academic) Test with an overall score of at least 6.5, and a minimum of 5.5 in each element of the test.
