Course content

Our online International Executive MBA programme is designed to allow you to work and study simultaneously while benefiting from our rich 30-year history of delivering Executive MBA programmes, which are triple-accredited by AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS.

Delivering our EMBA programme online opens up the opportunity for aspiring responsible leaders from all over the world to join our learning community. This means that you will develop your skills and knowledge with a diverse cohort of peers who will encourage and challenge your learning and thinking to shape you into a critical and strategic leader and be part of a Management School which is highly ranked for both teaching and research.

At the heart of the International Executive MBA programme is the concept of good growth, whereby the positive growth of a business is directly aligned with positive social and environmental value creation – if the business does well, then so does the community and the planet. The world is changing rapidly, and growth at any cost is no longer an acceptable, future-proof option. Leaders need the skills and attributes to be able to adapt and change in a more strategically responsible way that embeds a regenerative approach to ensure their business is aligned with the broader external factors of environment, community and social value. These are the skills our programme will equip you with.

In our ever-changing and uncertain world, the online International Executive MBA is seeking to challenge you—a leader of tomorrow—to consider how you can act as a responsible and adaptable leader and create value for your organisation that is both balanced and interconnected. Come and join us on this exciting and transformative journey.

Flexible delivery

The programme is designed to fit around your working life. We begin with a face-to-face introduction week held at Lancaster University Management School. You will then join the online core modules, which will include weekly lectures and tutorials so you can interact online with your tutors and peers.

During the second year of the programme, you will select two elective modules, which can either be themed to form a pathway or selected on an individual basis. Elective modules will be offered online, but we are exploring the possibility of offering face-to-face elective modules depending on demand and availability. For each module, you will have access to online materials and readings to work through and gain a greater depth of understanding of the key concepts and learning. Throughout the two-year programme, we have introduced a number of reflective weeks, which will give you the opportunity to pause and reflect on your learning, giving you the space and time to further embed your learning and skills into your daily professional practice.

Assessment

Our programme is underpinned by practical, work-focused assessments. This means that you apply and critically evaluate the models and theories you learn in your workplace, creating actionable recommendations and improvements for your organisation. This approach means you will start to make a tangible difference to your organisation and to your own professional development right from the start of the programme.

Course outcomes

The International Executive MBA programme will equip you with the core knowledge and current theories you need to become a high-performing and strategic leader within a business environment. The work-based nature of the programme means that you will apply your learning directly to your own organisation and context, using originality and critical thinking skills to solve complex business problems in an integrated and holistic way. The work-focused approach to the programme means you develop your critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and decision-making skills to develop strategic and comprehensive recommendations and solutions for your organisation.
