Course content

Whether you work in a school, hospital, for a local authority or in another field where teaching is part of your role, this course will significantly develop your knowledge of current research, policy and practice in education.

You will examine the influences that have shaped modern education, from the philosophy behind teaching methods to government policies that direct educational practice across a variety of settings, both inside and outside the classroom. We will give you a strong grounding in these areas, allowing you to gain a greater understanding of how people learn and of how to teach and assess effectively.

You will relate your learning to your own experiences and you will be able to tailor the course to your career needs and interests by selecting from a range of option modules. Offered as Pathway modules, you could choose to specialise in one of the following areas: Inclusion Practice; Leadership & Management; Race & Decolonial Thought; Creative Learning; Coaching & Mentoring. You will also have the opportunity to study an option module from one of our other masters courses.
