Course content

This course provides a route into the legal profession for non-law graduates and is often referred to as a graduate diploma in law (GDL). This qualification and our LLM Qualifying Law Degree cover the key foundation subjects needed to complete the academic stage of your training to become a solicitor or barrister as required by the major professional bodies in law. It will be delivered through a mix of online learning activities, directed study and small group workshops.

Leeds is home to top-ranking UK and international law firms, including Pinsent Masons, DLA Piper, Addleshaw Goddard and Eversheds. The city employs over 7,000 law professionals and you will be encouraged to engage with local law firms through career development sessions.

You will also have the opportunity to be partnered with a professional mentor – a legal practitioner in the local area – who will provide practical support while you study, deepening your understanding of legal practices and advising you on your career aspirations.
