UCAS Tariff Points: 320 points required. (Minimum 220 points from at least two A Levels or equivalent qualifications. A minimum of 80 points at A level must be from a biological science. Normally 80 tariff points from a biological subject at A Level is required for entry. If you are studying a related subject such as Chemistry or Physical Education at A Level or equivalent, then this requirement may be reduced). Months of entry
Providing up-to-date knowledge of current advances in biomedical sciences, you will gain a sound understanding of genetics and microbiology and a thorough comprehension of the chemical process which supports life. This includes structure, function and metabolism, and the control of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and proteins. In your final year you can choose to focus your studies in a specialist area and choose to study microbiological and immunological techniques, medical microbiology, pain research, the science of analgesia or microbial biotechnology.
Fees and funding
Full-time, year one typically £9,000.
There are no upfront fees for students. You will only start repaying tuition fees after you have graduated and once you are earning £21,000 or more.
