Train to become a specialist community public health nurse on the third part of the nursing register with a specialism in school nursing. The course will enable you to undertake leadership roles and develop the expertise to influence, drive and implement public health policies.
The Postgraduate Diploma prepares you to function as a specialist practitioner. You would normally be required to undertake the first six core modules listed below in order to achieve this. Our MSc will help you continue with your academic studies as you undertake an extended project, relevant to clinical practice. You will normally be expected to complete the additional 60 credit Research in Practice module in order to achieve this, which will take a further one year.
By critically analysing leadership and management in clinical practice, you will examine the complexity of delivering health and social care services especially in relation to professional school nursing. You will develop the skills to deliver quality and innovative health care to children and young people to help improve their life chances. There will be the opportunity to explore concepts of health behaviours and promotion in the public health arena, together with how to meet the wellbeing needs of individuals, groups and communities.
