Course content

The Developing Artistic Practice programme is the pathway through our Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Contemporary Dance which caters for both established and emerging dance artists. Offering unrivalled flexibility, the programme allows you to focus on shaping and defining your individual artistic voice

Our students are from a wide range of backgrounds and create a bespoke programme catering to their own specific needs and interests with guidance from experienced mentors/supervisors.

Areas of study include:

  • performance
  • choreography
  • teaching
  • rehearsal direction
  • dance and technology
  • costume design
  • somatics
  • a range of studio-based techniques

We also have a strong research community and as a student on the MA programme you will undertake two compulsory academic modules.

Depending on your prior experience, it is possible to specialise in a particular area (for example in choreography), or chose from a broader palette of options available.

You can choose to undertake this course full-time or part-time to fit around your existing career and commitments.

Information for international students

If your first language is not English you will need to demonstrate your English language proficiency by submitting results from a recognised testing service, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test. The minimum score required is IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element).

If you are an overseas student who requires a Tier 4 Student Visa you must study full-time and complete the programme within four terms (16 months). Part-time study is not possible.
