Course content

This innovative and intensive public policy and management course is intended for graduates who are working professionally or intending to pursue careers in public administration in national contexts of transition and modernisation. The course is particularly attractive to graduates working in overseas countries, or who have an interest in international development and governance reform.

The overall aim is to equip present and future public service practitioners with the skills and understanding to develop as high-quality administrators and managers able to play a critical role as innovators and 'change agents' in their home environments.

Placements are a particular feature of the course. Every student is provided with the opportunity to gain direct experience of the work of a London-based public service organisation. A limited number of placements in the USA may be available. The course is taught by an experienced and dynamic team of academic staff, who are themselves engaged in international research and consultancy. Expert practitioners from a range of public and voluntary sector organisations also contribute to the course.
