Course contentMechatronics combines the disciplines of mechanical and electrical engineering with computer control systems. The success of modern industry in global markets often relies on the ability to integrate these disciplines within the manufacturing process and the development of new products and systems.
The programme offers an integrated approach to engineering, incorporating mechatronics, product design, microprocessor-based control, manufacturing systems, modelling, simulation and quality management. Mechatronics is essential to the design and manufacture of modern products and processes.
This postgraduate programme provides engineers with advanced knowledge of mechatronics, electromagnetic systems, real-time and embedded systems, advanced electronic design skills for microprocessor/microcontroller based systems and FPGA systems.
The programme also focuses on the development and efficient implementation of appropriate solutions in automation, robotics, machine intelligence and advanced manufacturing systems.
The course takes graduates from various engineering, management and software engineering disciplines and develops them into multidisciplinary engineers capable of working in mechatronics and related fields. This enables them to apply an integrated approach in designing and developing products and processes.
