To be accepted to study on the MA Film we normally require a good honours degree, or equivalent qualification, in an appropriate subject. We also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications and individuals with a minimum of three years' work experience. Those without formal qualifications need to demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level.

This MA Film will develop your practical moving image skills alongside critical knowledge and understanding in the creative industries. The course will provide a broad grounding in the study of the moving image from different genres, historical periods and cultural origins, embracing the forms of documentary, fiction, animation, and experimental practice. This will act as a basis for you to develop and explore your own ideas.
You will have the opportunity to develop significant practical projects in a supportive environment, whilst also examining the processes employed in working with moving image media. Intensive workshops will familiarise you with our resources whilst also challenging you to make small projects that are critiqued in class. You may also explore and produce work in other various contexts, such as video installation, single screen, performance-based work, or mobile technologies. You will develop research-led professional practice, analysis, realisation and presentation, producing quality work for a professional context and identified audience.
