Course contentThe core unit stresses the application of Quality Management Systems (GLP, GMP, HACCP, ISO 9000, ILAB) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14000). The microbiological aspects of the course are centred around Analytical Food Procedures; Application of DNA Probes in Genetic Diagnostics; Rapid Methods of Bacterial/Viral Detection; Microbiological Risk Assessment; Validation Procedures; Quality Control in Pharmaceutical Industries; Environmental Microbiology; a laboratory based research project, preparation of reports. There is strong emphasis on the development of verbal and written communication skills. Additional modules include Introduction to Business; Statistics and Computer Skills.
