Entry requirements

Must be a registered nurse on the General, Psychiatric, Mental Handicap or Public Health Nurse division of the Register (An Bord Altranais); Hold an active nursing registration; Have minimum two years post -registration experience (exclusive of post-registration courses); Currently work in a setting which requires you to care for older people; Have minimum six months clinical experience caring for older people within the previous two years.

Course content

The programme aims to further enhance nurses' ability to provide effective, appropriate, high quality, evidence-based care for older people.
The programme is comprised of six theory/ practice modules. In all modules there is an emphasis on exploring the relevance of module content to practice. Similarly, practice placements allow students to explore "new knowledge" in practice, thus providing students with an opportunity to integrate theory and practice.
