Entry requirements

To be eligible to enter on a programme of study and research for the degree of PhD a candidate must have reached a high honours standard at the examination for the primary degree or presented such other evidence as will satisfy the Head of School and the College of his/her fitness.

Course content

A PhD in Nursing or a PhD in Midwifery is the highest academic award a nurse or midwife can achieve. The aim of the PhD in nursing and PhD in midwifery programmes offered in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, is to rigorously prepare graduates to develop, improve and enhance knowledge and understanding in their chosen area of research.
