Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree, or international equivalent, in any engineering or science subject, geography, town planning or maths. We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have a qualification in a different subject to those listed above, a lower or non-standard qualification or significant, relevant industry experience.

Course content

The Transport Planning and Business Management MSc is an industry accredited course designed for practising professionals and new graduates. You will develop and apply advanced skills and understanding to the planning, management and operation of transport systems.

Along with developing essential skills and understanding of the planning, management and operation of transport systems, we aim to help you establish a responsible attitude towards the needs of society, the environment and transport safety considerations. The course includes teaching in business studies for scientists and engineers.

Information for international students

To study this course you need to meet our Band 6 English Language requirements: Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-skills). If you have lower English Language scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course.

Further details of qualification

There are two intakes for this programme each year - one in September and one in January. There is no closing date for this programme. However, international students should apply approximately six weeks prior to the start of the programme to ensure that they have time to put appropriate arrangements in place. Please note: As a formal condition of the offer to study at Newcastle University, students from outside the UK/EU are required to pay a deposit of £1,500 or submit an official letter of sponsorship for their chosen programme. The deposit payment is non refundable, but will be deducted from tuition fees upon registration.
