Entry requirements

A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in computer science or a discipline with significant computing content, such as:

  • mathematics
  • engineering
  • an engineering discipline
  • statistics
  • computer science.

The School of Computing has a strong track record of admitting applicants from a non-standard background and individuals with strong relevant work experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis.

Applicants should have achieved grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications). Applicants without English or Maths qualifications can study for them as part of their apprenticeship.

Course content

The MSc is for individuals in full time employment who want to develop their postgraduate skills in data analytics, taking advantage of the apprenticeship scheme.

About this course

You'll use a combination of technical and soft skills during the course. You will also have extensive on-the-job training allowing you to take your career to the next level and become an expert in your field. You'll be suitable for this course if you are already working within data analytics, business planning and IT.

This course has meets the needs of the apprenticeships scheme, and is designed to the Data Analytics Specialism of the Digital Technology Solutions Level 7 integrated degree standard.

All apprenticeships in the School of Computing have been created by the Institute of Coding, a government funded project to help close the digital skills gap. The MSc has also been created in consultation with industry. This ensures you will develop the skills needed to succeed in today’s workplace.
