Course content

This course is designed to equip you with expertise and experience to become a computer science/computing teacher in a secondary school. You will develop detailed subject knowledge, skills and understanding of pedagogical issues related to computer science at the 11-14 and 14-16 age phases.

Subject Knowledge Enhancement
If your degree does not include sufficient computer science or you require a refresher computer science course for what you are required to teach in a secondary school, the Department for Education sponsors several Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses which range in length from 8 weeks to 12 months. Newman's SKE courses will provide you with the opportunity to acquire sufficient computer science subject knowledge to teach it to at least Key Stage 3, 4 and post-16.
