Course content

As society’s reliance on digital technology increases, the demand for data, machine learning and artificial intelligence experts has grown by 231% over the past five years (Royal Society, 2019). No matter what your background is, our Computer Science MSc is your chance to fill this skills gap and turn insight into action.

In the first half of the course, you’ll develop your practical computing skills with handpicked modules exploring programming, data modelling and analytics, secure web development and more. You’ll then have the choice of two specialist pathways Data Analytics or Artificial Intelligence – giving you the chance to harness the skills needed to forge a career in some of the fastest growing sectors in the computing industry.

However you choose to specialise, you’ll be taught by academics at the cutting-edge of digital change from our Computer and Information Sciences department, ranked within the world’s top 400 for Computer Science (THE World University Rankings, 2020).

The course is flexible. As a distance learning student, you’ll be able to take control and study your way, from anywhere in the world, whenever you want. Plus, you’ll have the freedom to pay your fees in module by module instalments. You’ll be on track to gain a Masters in around two years, part time, or you can take longer if you need.
