Course content

Northumbria is one of the largest university- based providers of English Language teaching in Britain. We have extensive experience of students studying for TESOL qualifications.

The TESOL MA will develop your practical classroom-based teaching skills, as well as your understanding of the theoretical principles underpinning English Language teaching and learning. The programme is informed by a view of language which is embedded in the social, cultural, personal, and interpersonal processes of human life. It offers a broad introduction to many of the key concepts and theories which underpin English Language teaching, and also provides you with the opportunity to practise and develop your practical teaching skills in a supportive environment.

Information for international students

Students whose first language is not English must have an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum score in each component of 5.5. Pearson Academic score of 62 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking of 51.
