Course content

Our MBA has been developed to meet the needs of professionals who strive for excellence in performance in an increasingly globalised and fast-changing environment and want to take the next step in their career.

Newcastle Business School has an innovative and challenging approach to learning, combining world-class research with contemporary business practice. Our MBA curriculum reflects the research strengths of Newcastle Business School and has been designed by our internationally recognised Professors who have significant research and practitioner experience. This enables us to offer a wide range of topics that will develop your knowledge and understanding of traditional areas and will also enable you to engage with the latest thinking in emerging, future work challenges. You will emerge as a highly capable professional, grounded in key areas of business administration, with a thorough and dynamic approach to tackling complex business challenges.

Our MBA is founded on the principles of experiential learning and as such, you will reflect on real-world business problems, experience hands-on projects, connect with industry leaders, and engage in transformational professional development. You will have the opportunity to form networks with other business leaders both in the UK and internationally.

Learning from others is integral to our MBA and as a full-time student, you will study alongside our part-time learners who are practising managers from a range of industry sectors and organisational contexts. Through engagement with class-based discussions and activities you will be encouraged to share your experiences and thinking. Additionally, action learning sets are embedded within the programme and offer the opportunity for business issues to be discussed collaboratively. These sessions are facilitated by our team of executive coaches who are leading practitioners in their field. This enables you to not only reflect on, and learn from, real-time organisational challenges, but also to build a supportive network of peers.

Recognising the busy lifestyles of our learners, our MBA is delivered over a block delivery pattern. This will include a mix of taught workshops which are supported by a range of blended learning activities. By studying our MBA, you will gain an internationally recognised, prestigious qualification and embark on a personal and professional development journey. The course aims to transform you into a reflective, innovative and socially responsible strategic leader, with the appropriate skills to think critically and make informed decisions.

Throughout the duration of the MBA programme students are affiliates of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and you will be given one year’s free Associate membership once you have graduated.
