Entry requirements

A good UK honours degree (minimum 2.1) in a relevant discipline. IELTS 6.5 required by applicants whose first language is not English. An MA in a relevant discipline can also be helpful in some areas.

Course content

The historians have an excellent track record supervising both full- and part-time research students to completion. Full-time research students are required to take a module in research methods and practices for which they receive a Nottingham Trent Certificate on completion.

Department specialisms

Members of the department are active in teaching and researching across key areas of history from the Mayas and Incas through to contemporary European and Asian history.
