You will need a good honours degree (minimum 2.2) in a related discipline. We welcome applications from mature applicants with non-standard qualifications who have relevant work experience. These applications will be considered on an individual basis.

Course content

The new MA and MSc Medical Product Design courses have been developed in collaboration with the medical profession and are underpinned by our active and innovative research within the subject area.

The courses focus on the application of new and innovative materials and technologies to provide innovative design solutions for the healthcare industry. They also provide a strong foundation in materials and technology analysis, design principles and ethical principles in relation to medical device innovation and design.

You will develop your design skills to a level capable of combining requirements such as functionality, aesthetics and ergonomics to align with the needs of the medical profession.

MA or MSc?

The courses are available as an MA or MSc. The key differentiation between the MA and MSc pathways will be the Health and Wellbeing module and the topic of your Major Study Project.

Information for international students

IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 560 with a written score of 5.0 or TOEFL (IBT) 83 with a written score of 24 is required by applicants whose first language is not English. Language tuition and support in English is available. For further information visit www.ntu.ac.uk/international
