Course content

The MRes Environmental Management programme provides students with extensive training in the theory and practice of Environmental Management, delivered primarily through a dynamic eLearning system. Entry in September. You will begin by studying two modules online over six months:

  • Associate Certificate Course in Environmental Management (UK)
  • Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001)

This is followed by a seven-day UK-based residential field course during which the Practical Resource Management module is delivered and theoretical knowledge can be put into practice.

MSc by Research Environmental Management is aimed at students wishing to be fully prepared for research work on graduation, but who have limited practical laboratory experience. Entry in September and January.

Through studying 60 credit points (CP) of taught modules directly related to acquisition of research skills and a 60 CP research project you will emerge as a well-trained researcher with good prospects for further study to PhD or to direct work in industry. You will be working with experts in individual disciplines and will have the opportunity to study a variety of aspects of your discipline of choice.

The School of Science and Technology offers the MSc(Res) route with a one year paid placement in industry which would further enhance your employability opportunities.
