Course content

The Philosophy discipline’s research and teaching interests in the area of value include: metaethics; ethical theory; moral psychology; moral epistemology; practical ethics; political philosophy; aesthetics and the theory of art.

Several members of the Philosophy Department have research interests in this area. Professor Chappell is currently on a Leverhulme-funded research grant, working on a book provisionally entitled Epiphanies: An Ethics and Meta-Ethics of Experience. This builds on her earlier book, Knowing What To Do (OUP, 2014). Alex Barber, Sean Cordell, Manuel Dries, Derek Matravers, Jon Pike, and Carolyn Priced have all published papers related to ethics and value.
