Course content

The Philosophy discipline welcomes applications for graduate work in the fields of philosophy of language. The discipline has interests in questions such as: What is meaning? What is the relation between truth and meaning? What is the nature of the cognitive relation we bear to language? What role do our concepts play in philosophical inquiry?

Applications in the subfield of conceptual engineering are particularly encouraged.

Research and research students are at the heart of the discipline. In joining us, you would join a lively and friendly graduate community. The discipline hosts papers by visiting speakers throughout the year, and an annual graduate conference at which students give papers on their work in progress.

Please consult the Philosophy discipline website for details of applications for funded PhD places under the Open-Oxford-Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP scheme. We will also consider applications outside this scheme. Details of how to apply can be found on the website.
